Museums, associations, pubblications
The towns in the
Altometauro have old traditions, and jealously keep the remains of this tradition, from
the medioeval plan of the town to the Renaissance buildings and the works in the churches
and palaces. The love for these traditions gave birth to associations that come out during the year. |

Public library | Urbania | founded by Francesco Maria II Della Rovere was helped by a rich donation of 35,000 volumes; very important is the ancient bottom rich of incunabulums and cinquecentine. | ||
San Francesco Church | Mercatello | is a Romanic church dated XIII cent.and is probably the first Francescan church built outside Assisi. Inside, a picture gallery has been organized, and it contains paintings and frescos from XIII to XVII cent. | ||

Museum of Collegiata | Mercatello | in the Collegiata church still has parts of the old building from Xcent. inside the madonna delle grazie painting is kept together with many other art works. very interesting is the museum containing vestments dated of XV cent. | ||
Civic museum | Urbania | situated in the Palazzo Ducale (XV-XVI cen.)is rich of drawings by Italian, German, French artists, a very remarkable collection. Marvellous are the two globes by G. Mercatone (XVI cent); it has many majolic and ceramics collections; the museum is even centre of important cultural activities. | ||
